A DAY IN MEERA’S LIFE WHICH CHANGED HER COMPLETELY

Once upon a time, on the day of Saraswati puja, Meera woke up with a start. She had just remembered it was Basant Panchami (Saraswati puja). It was the only day in the year in which she could wear a colored dress to school, although only an Indian attire. This year the Saraswati puja had fallen on her birthday, so she thanked God. Meera thought,” I will wear my mum’s yellow sari.” She got up, got ready quickly and left for school, dressed beautifully. She saw people dressed in the colors of yellow, green, and white. People were enjoying all over the places which she passed. Meera counted the no. of pandals which she passed. There were thirteen of them. While reaching the fourteenth one she saw a little boy about the age of seven, repairing a pandal .he was joining two ends of the pandal with the help of a hammer & a nail. Suddenly, He squealed in pain. He had hit his finger, it was drenched in blood. A man may be his master came up and gave him a good scolding. “Imagine if someone did that to me” thought Meera “I would burst into tears”. The boy though hurt did not cry. Meera was left spellbound. From then on Meera planned to serve the mankind.
Twenty years from then Meera is known as DR. M. Banerjee who has started an organization called smiles, which work for a better tomorrow, the health & education of the poor children.
